Sony's new restructuring brings together multiple electronics divisions.
Sony Corporation (Nasdaq: SNE) has announced it will establish an intermediate holding company called Sony Electronics Corporation effective April 1, 2020. The new holding company will incorporate the three businesses that comprise its Electronics Products & Solutions (EP&S) segment (Imaging Products & Solutions, Home Entertainment & Sound, and Mobile Communications) and related global sales and marketing, manufacturing, logistics, procurement and engineering platforms.
Through the establishment of Sony Electronics Corporation, the company says it will not only accelerate the integrated operation of the EP&S businesses, but also aim to optimize its organizational structure, talent and business portfolio, while further enhancing competitiveness and creating new business.
Shigeki Ishizuka has been named as Representative Director and President, CEO of the new divison. As a senior executive vice president at Sony Corporation, Ishizuka will be in charge of the EP&S business unit, including the storage media business.
Ichiro Takagi has been named a Representative Director and Executive Deputy President, COO of the new division, As a senior executive vice president at Sony, Takagi will be the assistant to Ishizuka and in charge of the Home Entertainment & Sound Business unit, the Consumer AV Sales & Marketing unit, and the Manufacturing, Logistics, Procurement and Engineering Platform. He will also be the Representative Director and President of Sony Home Entertainment & Sound Products Inc.
Sony recently hired Jeff Goldstein to the position of head of sales for the company's CIS channel. Goldstein previously spent 24 years at the company in various positions. In his new role, Goldstein will oversee the company's relationships with audio and video integrators and help build on Sony's 30-year history of developing high-performance home technology products.
